ACCESS OM Studentship and Grant Recipients Announced

ACCESS Open Minds has awarded six studentships and two small operating grants through a competition held last November and promoted across its network. Recipients are:

 

Studentships—Masters

 

Sarah McIlwaine — Supervisor Dr. Jai Shah (Dorval-Lachine-Lasalle site)
Masters, McGill University – 2 years; $10,000 for the 1st year (Sarah has $10K McGill award); $17,850 for the 2nd year

Jishian Ravinthiran — Supervisors Dr. Lucie Nadeau/Dr. Srividya Iyer (Various Montreal sites, particularly ACCESS-OM sites and their partnering campus)
Masters, McGill University – 2 years; $17,850/year

 

Studentships—Ph.D.

 

Eugenia Canas — Supervisors Dr. Helene Berman/Dr. Nadine Wathen (Chatham-Kent site)
Ph.D., Western University – 2 years; $20,000/year (only requested 2 years)

Julie Marguerite Deschênes – Supervisor : Dr. Amal Abdel-Baki ̸ Céline Bellot (RIPAJ site)
Ph.D., Université de Montréal – 4 years; $20,000/year

Miriam Kincaid — Supervisor: Dr. Rebecca Fuhrer (research on early intervention, data to be collected in England)
Ph.D., McGill University – 2 years (ongoing PhD since 2012); $20,000/year; McGill University

Kathleen MacDonald – Dr. Srividya Iyer (Dorval-Lachine-Lasalle site) ; McGill University – 4 years; $12,000 for the 1st year (has $10K McGill award); $20,000/yr for years 2–4

 

One-time Operating Grants ($10,000)


Anne Dezetter – Supervisors Dr. Ann Beaton, /Jimmy Bourque (New Brunswick site); Université de Moncton

Sarah McIlwaine – Supervisor Dr. Jai Shah (Dorval-Lachine-Lasalle site) ; McGill University

The selection committee reviewed at total of seven (7) applications for studentships and six (6) applications for operating funds. The ACCESS OM Trainee Committee consisted of:

  • Three researchers
  • Two youths
  • One family member
  • One service provider
