Expansion of Mental health services for Ontario Indigenous Communities

April 12, 2018 – The federal and provincial governments are each contributing $5 million to establish 19 mental wellness teams for Indigenous communities across Ontario. Joint statement issued late Wednesday evening stated the initiative was intended to “bridge health inequities that persist between First Nations and other Ontario residents.” The unique agreement intends to provide mental health and preventative services and supports for First Nations communities.
