Congratulations Ruben Valle!
Ruben defended his PhD thesis on December 19th 2025, titled “Implementing Early Intervention for Psychosis in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)”. His thesis includes 4 papers with distinct innovative methods. The first used bibliometric analysis to examine research capacity in early psychosis in LMICs. The second was a systematic review (N=125 studies) of the nature and effectiveness of multicomponent interventions for first-episode psychosis and clinical-high risk for psychosis in LMICs. The third was a case study focused on implementation processes and contexts around early intervention for psychosis in the Latin America and the Carribean. The fourth analyses national level administrative data to look at whether service use for psychosis increased in Peru from 2018 to 2024 following mental health reform.
We are deeply proud for Ruben for completing a beautiful thesis, and a brilliant defence! We wish him the best in his next endeavors.
