From February 20-22, 2017  130 members of the ACCESS Open Minds network from across Canada — as well as a few guests of honour from as far as the UK — congregated in Montreal for three days of knowledge sharing and networking.

The theme of the 3 day event was “Growing Momentum” and was an opportunity for youth, family members and carers, researchers, clinicians, site team staff, and decision-makers to take stock of recent accomplishments, get up to speed on what comes next, and learn from each other through plenaries, targeted workshops, and a poster museum.

Special guests and speakers included: Indigenous activist Vicky Boldo; University of Birmingham youth mental health professor Max Birchwood; academic psychologist Nicola Byrom; the head of transcultural and social psychiatry institute at McGill University, Laurence Kirmayer; as well as youth amplifiers from Feathers of Hope, part of Ontario’s Office of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth.

Special thanks to the wonderful Youth MC’s, photographers and everyone who contributed to an amazing 3 days.
